Aliens or Faeries?

ALIENS OR FAERIES?

The above picture was captured in River Legacy Park, a perfect circle of dead earth in which nothing lived. The area was confirmed to be empty previously, the circle seemingly forming instantly overnight with nothing visible to cause it. In the same area, a young woman has disappeared mysteriously - we are currently withholding the name of the victim before further research for the sake of her family, but look for a future article on the subject. Animal prints belonging to an as-yet-unidentified animal were found in the area. Strange atmospheric phenomena have also been noticed in the area.

Research into the area has determined that there have been many disappearances in the park - disappearances, and deaths due to 'animal mauling'. Many of these have been covered up by the authorities, brushed beneath the carpet and the media encouraged to ignore them.

So we have a series of events -- disappearances, mutilations, circles in the ground, signs of unusual creatures, and atmospheric disturbances. To the modern eye, this may seem symptomatic of alien activity, remembering instances of UFO abductions, of crop circles, of cattle and human mutilations. However, if one looks back into history, they find legends of faerie abductions, of faerie rings, of strange lights in the sky, of the 'unpleasant deaths' of men and their cattle when the fae are disturbed.

Are the old stories of faeries really just stories of UFOs and aliens before mankind knew better? Or has popular culture made us see faerie incidents as UFOs and aliens? Or are they, in fact, two different - yet similar - things?

     Let's hear your opinions, readers.
